    Thermoplastic primer for road and playground markings. ThermTac Liquid Primer provides better adhesion between markings and the road surface.

    This depends on the application method, Spray or Liquid? 

    Liquid - If applied correctly as a thin coating this should take approximately 15 to 20minutes to dry.

    Spray - Dependant on how many back and forth layers have been sprayed this should typically take around 5 to 10 minutes. 

    (Ambient temperatures will affect drying times)

    All Concrete should be primed prior to installation of preformed thermoplastic markings.

    Any bituminous surface which is old or worn and aggregate rich.

    Make sure you clear the site of all loose debris and dust/dirt, ensuring any surface chemicals present have been washed away. Making sure the substrate is dry and free from moisture.

    Thermoplastic markings have a much shorter life span when applied on block paving. Whilst priming is a must, the movement between the blocks means that the material will be prone to cracking/failing due to movement and suffer adversely from moisture ingress. 

    Do I need to use Primer when installing my markings?

    This will depend on the nature of the surface. If you are planning to install on block paving or concrete, you will need to use primer. New tarmac will not usually require primer.

    ThermTac Liquid Primer is to be used on most Preformed installations that are being laid on Concrete, Block paving or worn/dusty bituminous surfaces. 

    • Clean the application area thoroughly, and remove all sand, dirt and chemicals.
    • Using a suitable propane torch, remove any moisture present and preheat the area prior to treatment. 
    • Use ThermTac Liquid Primer with a small, short/medium pile roller or brush, and apply a thin coating to the substrate where the marking will cover. Try to cover all areas affected without leaving gaps. 
    • If laying on concrete that absorbs primer quickly, multiple coats may be required.
    • Leave to air dry for approx. 15minutes. (This may vary depending on ambient temperatures)
    • Once primer is dry/tacky to the touch the markings can be applied on top via propane torch.
