Installation of Preformed Thermoplastic Markings

How to Install Thermoplastic Markings

  1. Prepare the surface by ensuring it is thoroughly cleaned, removing any grease, oil, road salt, or moisture. Sweep away loose grit or debris for optimal results.
  2. For older tarmac surfaces and concrete, consider applying a primer. This is available in 5-litre containers. However, if you're working with new tarmac, you can skip this step.
  3. Once the surface is prepped, assemble your markings according to your desired layout. Ensure precise positioning, as the markings will become permanent after the next step.
  4. Using a gas torch, heat and melt the markings onto the ground. For added skid and slip resistance, consider incorporating glass beads during the heating process.
  5. Once everything has cooled down, your job is complete! This typically only takes half an hour, allowing traffic to resume using the area promptly.
